DRAFT RESULTS - Closed Gym League: Season 5
Season 5 of the Closed Gym League kicked off May 9th with yet another exciting and unpredictable draft. Draft order was selected through a lottery where each player was given a certain percentage of "ping pong balls" based on their Power Ranking (points+rebounds+assists).
Originally slated in the 7th position Andy Duncan worked out a trade with Matt Becker to move up to #3. Becker's move may have backfired as he was left without his running mate Adam Zakos, but he did end up with his All-American brother Tommy Becker. Other than that the
first few rounds went pretty much as expected, although I do have to point out that 4 of the top 7 draft picks played their college ball at Ripon. (The top 2 of course are WLC alums.) Jeff Nordgaard dropped to the # 8 spot as some GMs were concerned with disrupting team chemistry when Jeff returns after missing the first 3 weeks of the season.
Jake Browarski did not show up for the draft, which may have resulted in the quickest draft in history. Also, cell phones were turned off so Jake couldn't try to get the inside scoop before the draft was over.
It is impossible to guess who had the best draft night, but that's why they play the games.
