Draft Results - CGL7
Season 7 of the Closed Gym League kicked off January 2nd with yet another exciting and unpredictable draft. Draft order was selected through a lottery where each player was given a certain percentage of "ping pong balls" based on their Power Ranking (points+rebounds+assists).
Matt Becker ended up garnering the #1 pick, which he used to select perennial standout Brad Hintz out of UW-Stevens Point. Canada and LaRue came next at #2 and #3 before Royce Malkowski decided to keep it in the family
by selecting his brother Gareth. Josh Metzger distracted the other GMs by attending via speaker phone while scouting a game. Only time will tell if his ploy worked, but he did draft fellow CGL6 champs Scott Frey and Randy Pichler in an attempt to make it a semi-repeat.
Steve Kohl insisted that we remove young Kon II from the room as it was taking away from his concentration. Everyone walked away from the draft room relatively pleased with their squads...but that's why they play the games.
