Reggie Miller for 1
This play is designed to get a lay-up out of the “Reggie” play (Play #9 in the playbook). The basic concept
of the play is to catch the defense in a poor defensive position as they try to defend the 2-point shot.
Instructions
· Run “Reggie” (Play #9).
· The final pick in “Reggie” has the POST setting a back screen for the POINT.
· As soon as the POINT goes over the screen, the POST cuts straight down the lane to the hoop. The POST’s defender will have to switch to guard the POINT, and the SHOOTER’s defender will be in a poor defensive position because the POST just picked him.
Tips
· This play works great if you have run “Reggie” and/or “Reggie second option” effectively during the game to get 2-point shots.
· This is a play that needs a little bit of practice to get the timing down.
