Closed Gym League
The Closed Gym League is an extension of the original Closed Gyms. 2004 was the inaugural year for the League, which runs year round. Teams in this league are selected through a draft process. Once a "season" has been completed, teams are redrafted and the next "season" begins.

CGL4 Awards
Hintz Most Valuable Player- "First of all I'd like to thank myself, because without me none of this would be possible. Bringing home the CGL championship trophy for the first time in the history of the Pichler franchise couldn't be sweeter. Randy was telling me how he painted an entire room just to house the trophy. In summary, thanks."
Pich GM of the Year- "You know you start out the year trying to piece together the perfect team and when it works out there isn't a better feeling. You've got the MVP in Hintz, guys who can score and defend in Goodno and Becker, West who led us in assists, Jake who likes to shoot, and Vraney who leads us in rebounding and cuss words. It was a great season and I'd like to congratulate all the teams who couldn't quite match up with the best. The bottom line is we won and you didn't. Better luck in CGL5."
Quincey Moman Rookie of the Year- Quincey helped lead New Balance to a 4th place finish averaging 33.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. "I'm honored to bring home this award. Averaging 26.8 shot attempts per game is more fun than you can possibly imagine. Thanks to all the CGL fans who voted for me and who helped set an attendance record of 4 people per game."
Player Not-So-Great Play of the Year- Milwaukee Sporting Goods leads Double D Resurfacing by 3 quarter points in the 4th with Mike Roemer at the free throw line for MSG and 1.5 seconds on the clock. Roemer misses the FT, Josh Metzger grabs the rebound and as he winds up to heave it from the middle of his own lane, Andy Duncan calls timeout. Metzger's 80 foot shot drops in and would have tied the score for the quarter. (Incidentally Metzger hit a fadeaway three on the ensuing inbounds to tie the quarter anyway.)
Player Not-So-Great Play of the Year II- New Balance trails Aurora Sports Medicine Institute by three with 3 seconds remaining. Greg Monfre gets the ball in the corner for NB and tries to get off a step-back three over Chris Bauer. Bauer hits Mono on the arm, Mono sinks all 3 free throws, and New Balance wins the game in OT nullifying SMI's attempt at the upset of the season.

The Legend of the Closed Gym
It's been said that back in the late 80's-early 90's, a group of 10 or more men would gather together in the name of basketball. These men were asked to come to these so-called Open Gyms because they 1) were reliable, 2) were competitive, 3) would cause no arguments, and 4) loved to play. Because phone calls were placed to specific individuals on an invitation only basis, a significant fact was brought to the operator's attention: "Hey, these aren't Open Gyms." And thus the Closed Gyms were born.
