Closed Gym League
The Closed Gym League is an extension of the original Closed Gyms. 2004 was the inaugural year for the League, which runs year round. Teams in this league are selected through a draft process. Once a season has been completed, teams are redrafted and the next season begins.

Season 5 of the Closed Gym League began on May 15th at Wisconsin Lutheran College. The draft was held on May 9th and the results are posted here. Good Skill to all teams.

	Most Valuable Player- Derrick Canada led his New Balance squad to the CGL Championship and an 8-2 record. He fell just 6 rebounds shy of averaging a triple double for the season. His 17 ppg wasn't among the league leaders, but his floor leadership each Sunday night caused his team to vote him MVP. "I'd like to thank my son for keeping me in shape by making me chase him around the house. I look forward to next season and the chance at another CGL title!".
	GM of the Year- Not only did he PLAY his team to victory, he also drafted this bunch of knuckleheads. DC's plan to gather his former 6:30am YMCA running mates Masino and Melka was scoffed at to start the season, but we can now all realize his genious. The trio combined to average 62.8 ppg, 29.7 rpg & 14.53 apg. Future GMs must be sure to break up this triumvirate of talent.
	Rookie of the Year- Jeff Nordgaard finished the season averaging 26.3 points, 12.8 boards and 5.5 assists. He helped his team to a 2nd place CGL finish. "Winning a rookie award at the tender age of 32 is very refreshing; however, we took 2nd Place in CGL and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt.
	Play of the Year- With 0.8 seconds and trailing by 2 New Balance has the ball at half court. Eric Melka runs from under the basket toward the ball and curls toward the corner. After catching the pass he pivots quickly and while fading out of bounds launches a high-arching 3-pointer. The ball hits nothing but net and New Balance escapes with a 1 point victory.
	Not-So-Great Play of the Year II- Prior to Melka's heroics, Justin L. is at the line for 2 shots that will seal the game with 0.8 left. After missing the first he has what his teammates can only describe as a severe neurological malfunction. He misses the second on purpose and fails to draw any iron giving New Balance the ball at halfcourt and setting the stage for Melka's game winner.

The Legend of the Closed Gym
It's been said that back in the late 80's-early 90's, a group of 10 or more men would gather together in the name of basketball. These men were asked to come to these so-called Open Gyms because they 1) were reliable, 2) were competitive, 3) would cause no arguments, and 4) loved to play. Because phone calls were placed to specific individuals on an invitation only basis, a significant fact was brought to the operator's attention: "Hey, these aren't Open Gyms." And thus the Closed Gyms were born.
