Most Valuable Player- Matt Becker shot .620 from the field and had averages of 28.2 points, 10.1 rebounds and 5.40 assists. He also set the tone on defense for his squad as they ended up allowing the fewest points per game of any team. "I'm glad we
were able to go out on top. I saw the look on JJ Reddick's and Adam Morrison's faces after they lost and I just knew I didn't want my career to end like that. Wait a second...I still have years of playing left in me. Woo Hoo!!!
But I'm still glad we won." |
 |
Rookie of the Year- Jeremy McGlothlin averaged 23.6 points, 9.67 rebounds and 5.33 assists a game for Aurora SMI and helped lead them to a 4th place finish this season. McGlothlin was SMI's designated defensive stopper and he brought a
tremendous level of energy to his team every time he played. "I like to start my day with a candy bar and can of Red Bull just to perk me up a little. I also have a stock-pile of Jolt cola that I use as my pregame beverage." |
 |
GM of the Year- Matt Becker put together a solid, defense-oriented squad that embodied the idea of teamwork. "I came up with an in depth formula for picking a team which I will share with you now: Hintz + Family member + Short guy with gray hair + Baseball player + Platteville x 2 / Wargolet's arguing habits = Winning team. It obviously
worked so nobody better steal it for next season, unless it's my future GM." |
 |
Most Improved Player- Andy Duncan averaged 17.9, 7.5 & 5.2 up from career averages of 11, 3 & 4. Despite the travails his team faced he stepped up his game in all areas to aid his team. "Basically I shot more and then gave the ball to Masino which would either get me an assist or if he missed I ran
in and got the rebound. It was a pretty easy formula for success." |
 |
Most Improved Player II- Ryan Goodno averaged 27.6 points (16.6 career ave) and 5.57 assists a game along with shooting 56% (50/90) from behind the arc, all of which are easily career highs. "A lot of the focus was on Landisch and Wagner down low and they did a great job of kicking
it out for open threes. That and I was REALLY lucky this season." |
 |
Video Clip of the Week "You haven't seen this video footage yet? Terrible! What were
you thinking? This clip has the creativity, the electricity, the showmanship. Watch it now big man, watch it now! |
*All-Stars were voted team MVPs by their teammates.
*All-CGL Players received MVP votes.

Iron Unkind
 |
None This Week - It's a good thing for Duffy and Kluck that there is no Iron Unkind this week because they'd definitely be on the short list. |

The Legend of the Closed Gym
It's been said that back in the late 80's-early 90's, a group of 10 or more men
would gather together in the name of basketball. These men were asked to
come to these so-called Open Gyms because they 1) were reliable, 2) were
competitive, 3) would cause no arguments, and 4) loved to play. Because
phone calls were placed to specific individuals on an invitation only
basis, a significant fact was brought to the operator's attention: "Hey,
these aren't Open Gyms." And thus the Closed Gyms were born.
