Schedule/Results

CGL8 Awards
Zakos Most Valuable Player- Zakos averaged 27.7 points, 11.4 rebounds and 8.40 assists per game leading his team in the latter two categories. The statkeepers tire of saying, "Rebound Zakos ...(3 second pause)... basket/assist Zakos." He shot 58% from the floor and 47% from behind the arc. "Our team really got it together after getting shalacked in week one. The hour long drive from Fondy before every game gives me almost an hour to listen to motivational tapes that get me mentally prepared to win ball games."
MC Rookie of the Year- Conigliaro averaged 28.8 points and 9.25 rebounds per game in helping his team reach the finals. "Winning a CGL title has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. Either that or nine weeks ago when I first heard about it, but that was a long night and I don't remember much before that anyway. We came away with the win and now I hope I can finish my degree after too many years to count spent in college."
Z GM of the Year- "Everyone on our team figured out their roles early on and stuck with them throughout the season. Guys made sacrifices when it came to spreading out the scoring, but that's what it takes to make a team successful. I prepared for the draft by placing pictures of all the players on a cork board and throwing darts at it blindfolded. All in all I'd say things turned out pretty well."
Dan Special Note- Dan Wargolet became the first 3-time CGL champion with the victory. "Winning 2 National Championships at UW-Platteville was nice, but I'll be bragging about these 3 titles for a lot longer. I'm going to the DMV tomorrow to change my license plate to '3XCGLCHMP'".
Bill Video Clip of the Week
"You haven't seen this video footage yet? Terrible! What were you thinking? This clip has the creativity, the electricity, the showmanship. Watch it now big man, watch it now!

The Legend of the Closed Gym
It's been said that back in the late 80's-early 90's, a group of 10 or more men would gather together in the name of basketball. These men were asked to come to these so-called Open Gyms because they 1) were reliable, 2) were competitive, 3) would cause no arguments, and 4) loved to play. Because phone calls were placed to specific individuals on an invitation only basis, a significant fact was brought to the operator's attention: "Hey, these aren't Open Gyms." And thus the Closed Gyms were born.
