the League, which runs year round. Teams in this league are selected through a draft process. Once a season
has been completed, teams are redrafted and the next season begins.
Draft Results
The Draft Results for Season 9 can be found here.
Standings
** Wins are worth 3 league points (LP) and quarters won (QW) are worth 1 league point.
Schedule/Results
CGL9 Awards
 |
Most Valuable Player- Steve Kohl led his team to the CGL title by averaging 29.6 points and 9.25 assists per game. "I'd like to thank my fifth grade basketball coach who put up with my shananigans and let me stay on the team leading to this beautiful day, this beautiful win, and a beautiful championship." |
 |
Co-Rookie of the Year- Bryan Barriere averaged 24.6 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in helping his team win the title this season. "I'm just glad I was able to contribute to a successful team, a fun group of guys, and successful after-game celebrations including many libations." |
 |
Co-Rookie of the Year- Matt West averaged 25.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game in helping his team reach the semi-finals. "Winning a CGL title has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately it didn't happen this time around and I'll have to put all of my efforts into working out in the off season to
prepare for another run at it. Either that or not pick up a ball until next season starts and hope for the best." |
 |
GM of the Year- My strategy for this draft was very scientific. I took each player's seasons of CGL experience, added points per game, subtracted turnovers and still ended up saying before each pick: Well....I think...wait, who's left on the board?...OK, let's see...ummm...I guess I'll take (insert player name here.) I guess it worked though so I'll definitely
employ those theories again the next time around. Although I do think I should get a new picture." |
 |
Video Clip of the Week "You haven't seen this video footage yet? Terrible! What were
you thinking? This clip has the creativity, the electricity, the showmanship. Watch it now big man, watch it now! |
*All-Stars were voted team MVPs by their teammates.
*All-CGL Players received MVP votes.

 |
Andy Duncan- 3/19 FG, 2/16 3FG; "I coach girls basketball and I was shooting with a girl's ball all week so I blame my performance on that. We still won, too, so that eases the pain." |
Dean Janicki- 2/13 FG, 1/8 3FG; "Although I do this every week, I feel that the fact that I didn't touch a ball for all 7 days between games really had an affect on me today. Either that or I'm getting old." |

The Legend of the Closed Gym
It's been said that back in the late 80's-early 90's, a group of 10 or more men
would gather together in the name of basketball. These men were asked to
come to these so-called Open Gyms because they 1) were reliable, 2) were
competitive, 3) would cause no arguments, and 4) loved to play. Because
phone calls were placed to specific individuals on an invitation only
basis, a significant fact was brought to the operator's attention: "Hey,
these aren't Open Gyms." And thus the Closed Gyms were born.
