Most Valuable Player- Quincey Moman displayed his usual scoring prowess this season averaging 32.2 points per game to lead the league. He was also the only player to rank in the top 15 in all three major categories: 13th - 9.44 rpg, 8th - 5.89 apg. He also led the league in 3FG% at 46%. "It's been a great season (shot) with a great bunch of guys (shot) and I'd like to thank them for (shot) helping me earn my first CGL title." |
 |
Rookie of the Year- Bob Blessington took a very workmanlike approach to this season, which proved very important to Thrivent Financial's run at the championship. Blessington led the league in rebounding at 18.3 rpg, which is good enough for 3rd all-time. (He needed just 2 more rebounds 2 set a new record.) "This is just a tremendous honor that I completely owe to my agent. He worked out a sweet deal that allowed
me to free up my Sunday nights and make a run at the rebounding title." |
 |
GM of the Year- Steve Kohl garners this honor for the second time in his career. "I talked a lot with Larry Harris in the off season and he gave me some good ideas. He actually
tried to get me to draft Yi Jianlian so he could get a better look at him playing American ball, but offering him a contract of $0 in an arena with 4 fans didn't sit well with his agent." |
 |
Walton's Words of Wisdom "Chris Childs let the opportunity of having the best job in the world, being Jason Kidd's backup, go away because he couldn't get himself away from the buffet table." |
*All-Stars were voted team MVPs by their teammates.
*All-CGL Players received MVP votes.

The Legend of the Closed Gym
It's been said that back in the late 80's-early 90's, a group of 10 or more men
would gather together in the name of basketball. These men were asked to
come to these so-called Open Gyms because they 1) were reliable, 2) were
competitive, 3) would cause no arguments, and 4) loved to play. Because
phone calls were placed to specific individuals on an invitation only
basis, a significant fact was brought to the operator's attention: "Hey,
these aren't Open Gyms." And thus the Closed Gyms were born.
